USE CASES

Planning you can watch

OptaZEN plans operations on production floors, in parcel hubs, warehouses, depots and on the road. Each example below plays a complete day plan in 3D, with the schedule underneath — pick one and watch it run.

Production

Production scheduling · machining

CNC mills, lathes, welding and assembly; component orders feed assembly, AGVs move the material, workers in shifts.

Watch it run

Production scheduling · sheet metal

Laser cutting, bending, robot welding and a powder coating line that runs in colour batches.

Watch it run

Shift rostering · 3-shift production

A month of early, late and night shifts: skills, contracts, vacation, rest rules and wishes — every shift covered, work shared fairly.

Watch it run

Logistics & warehousing

Parcel hub · dock scheduling

Overnight trucks, 12 doors, a 6,000 parcels/h sorter and 78 van bays — so the morning delivery wave leaves on time.

Watch it run

Warehouse · order batching & pick routes

Twelve aisles, 900 articles in chaotic storage, trolleys with several order buckets — shorter walks, faster waves.

Watch it run

Warehouse · slotting

400 articles, 624 pick slots on three levels: fast movers near goods out, heavy goods low, the ergonomic level for high volume.

Watch it run

Intermodal terminal · crane scheduling

Two gantry cranes on one runway, three trains, the trucks of the day — every train leaves full and on time.

Watch it run

Field service

Field service routing

Eight technicians, 29 home installations, arrival windows and skills — on the real roads around Windhagen.

Watch it run

Rail, bus & aviation

Train depot · night stabling

15 train sets arrive in the evening and leave in the morning; sidings are last-in, first-out — the wrong siding blocks a departure.

Watch it run

Rail depot · night maintenance

Wash plant, inspection pits, drop pit and wheel lathe; one shunting crew moves the trains through the switch ladder.

Watch it run

Airport · stand allocation

46 flights in the morning bank, contact and remote stands, three pushback tugs and six apron buses.

Watch it run

Night bus · ride pooling

Bookings from the last trains, the village pub and between villages — three minibuses pool the rides home on real roads.

Watch it run

Process industry & agriculture

Chemical park · tanker loading

56 road tankers with booked slots, six loading bays with different product lines and a 25-minute flush per product change.

Watch it run

Agriculture · harvest before the rain

Two combines from 10:00, rain from 16:00, grain carts to the silo — the most crop value in before the weather turns.

Watch it run

Energy & e-mobility

Energy-aware production · foundry

Induction furnaces, heat treatment, e-trucks, PV and a battery planned together against day-ahead prices and the 15-minute peak.

Watch it run

E-bus depot · overnight charging

24 e-buses, 10 chargers, a 900 kW grid connection — every bus ready for its morning block at night prices.

Watch it run

Wind farm · maintenance in weather windows

28 real turbines, three crews, one mobile crane and a weather front — service on calm hours, faults fixed fast.

Watch it run

E-truck charging hub · motorway

Long-haul trucks charge in the 45-minute driver break, regional trucks top up — megawatt and CCS bays on a limited grid connection.

Watch it run

Healthcare

Hospital · bed allocation

65 beds, a busy week of planned and emergency admissions — the right bed for every patient, nobody stuck in the emergency department.
